Sautéed Broccolini

RECIPE

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Servings: 2 to 3

If you're looking for a good and healthy side dish to include with your meals, try this sautéed broccolini. Tender and savory broccolini compliments many meals and is great for meal preps as well. I like to finish it off with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to add a pop of acidity that pairs well with the other flavors.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 medium shallot, sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • pinch of Red Pepper Flakes, optional

  • 1 bunch of broccolini (about 7 ounces), trimmed, sliced lengthwise

  • Kosher Salt, to taste

  • Black Pepper, to taste

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons water, to steam, plus additional if needed

Recommended Equipment

  • Large Skillet, 10 to 12 inches + Lid

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Rinse and pat dry broccolini. Trim the broccolini by removing the leaves, slicing off an inch of tough stems if present, and separating the broccolini lengthwise to have separate pieces.

2. Heat a large skillet to medium heat. Once the skillet is hot, add in oil. Once the oil is hot, can easily move around the skillet and shimmering, add in sliced shallots. Sprinkle shallots with a pinch of salt and cook for about 1 minute until slightly softened.

3. Add in minced garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes, if using. Cook for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant. Toss the broccolini into the skillet and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Incorporate with the shallots and garlic, and cook for 2 minutes.

4. To steam, add in water to the skillet, cover and steam for about 3-5 minutes. Stir occasionally until broccolini is tender to your desired liking and bright green.
